CATTLE BOARD.
A meeting o£ the North Auckland Cattle Board was held yesterday, at the Inspector's room, Post Office Buildings. Present : Mr. J. May (in the chair), Messrs. J. Dilworth, J. Wallace, and B. McLean. The minutes of last meeting were read aad confirmed. The Inspector laid before the Board a petition, signed by about 50 settlers, praying the Board to adopt measures to prevent the introduction of cattle into the northern part of the district. The petition was considered, and the Inspector was requested to reply that the Government has already been advised to make special regulations on this subject; also to telegraph to the Government soliciting information as to the measures taken. A letter was read from the Manager of the Railway, in reference to removing cattle by rail without a permit, and it was agreed to forward a reply to the following efifect: — " That it is desirable that no cattle should be conveyed by railway from Waikato to Auckland without a certificate from an Inspector that such cattle are free from disease, and are from a clean herd." The Inspector was requested to write tb the Chairman of the South Auckland Cattle Board, stating that no reply had been received to a letter from the North Auckland Cattle Board of the 24th inst., and soliciting an expression of opinion as to what steps ought to be taken to prevent cattle that may be infected from Being sent from one district to another. This was all the business.
