A NARROW ESCAPE FROM FIRE.

Last night about eight o'clock the attention of Constable Kennedy was attracted to a glare of light whioh appeared to proceed from the cellar of the premises occupied by Messrs. Shera Bros., warehousemen, Lower Queen-street. On looking down through the street cellar grating he observed that a lighted caudle was sticking on a board laid on a packing case, and as th«i candle burnt down the grease 'spread and had ignited the board which flamed up. He gave no alarm, but watched the result, and as the fire spent itself and went out without igniting the packing case, no further steps were taken. The premises were found to be Bafely locked up, and the candle must have been inadvertently left down in the' cellar by some of the persons connected with the firm who had been engaged there on business.
