THE LATE ACCIDENT.

TO THE EDITOR, Sir, —No one can too deeply regret the occurrence at Fort liritomarfc, or be too anxious to prevent its recurrence, as it is impossiblo (or ought to be) to look with satisfaction on public works which have been economically executed at the dreadful cost of preventiblo loss of human life. Tbe principal use of regretting an accident is to preveut it happening agaiu. So that, i? there are any mean* ot calling the attention of Parliament or of the Ministry to the state of matter*, an 1 causing provision to bo made agaiust such accidents, those means ought to be used. And if some one who understands how to proceed would lead the way, I am sure there are many who would be only too glad to do what they can to help to effect that end.—l am, &c , James Dobson*. Upper Queen-street, December 5, 1579.
