[Deforo A. Beetham, Ejq, J.P.I Drunkenness. — Tive persona were fined for this offence. Bueach of tue Vaorant Act.—Alexander Lindsay was charged with a breach of the Vagrant Act, by using obscene language in a public place, to wit,.Wynyard-Btreet, Devonport. Mr. Pafdy stated that the prisoner got drunk, and, besides using tho bad language, assaulted Mr. Quick. Fined £5, or one month's imprisonment with hard labour. Stealing a Watcii and Chain.—William. Wilkinson was charged with stealing a silver watch and a gold chain, worth £10, the property of Hugh McCormick. On the application of Mr. Pardy, the caae was remanded till Monday. Assault.—Charles Baker w»b charged with assaulting George Walker, by putting Mb hand up to hie face. Mr. Laishley appeared for the prisoner, and asked for a remand for one day. The remand waa granted. Prisoner was admitted to bail, himeeU in a bond for £20.
