CORRESPONDENCE.

WAITAKEREI EAST AND WEST ANNUAL MEETINGS. to iaa editor. Sib,—Your irate correspondent, "Landowner," in Saturday's issue, had he favoured me with a visit, instead of flying to your columns, could have obtained all the information ho required, and that right cheerfully given, both verbally and by layiDg the minute-book before him for perusal. When, however, he goes so far as to say that / fixed the day for the annual meeting of the Waitakerci West ratepayers for July 4, with a full knowledge that the annual meeting of the other district was on the same day, " Landowner" must permit me to say that he grossly economised the truth. Although a daily reader of the morning paper, T only occasionally peruse the Webky News, and when I gazetted the meeting of my Board I was utterly oblivious of the meeting day of the other. Some days after, however, my attention was drawn to it, and I lost no time in writing, not only to my chairman but (fearing he might not get my letter for some days) likewise to another of the trustees, calling their attention to it. Had I without authority called the meetingfor that or any other date, I should have richly deserved the " knuckle-dusting" I am threatened with, but I had strict instructions from the chairman to do so, and at the time he gave me such directions I am confident he was as ignorant of the Waitakerei Bast annual meeting happening on the same day as I was.—l am, &c, T.
