A so-called Maori liaka or war-dance, was given on Thursday afternoon at the new ruuanya house, Parawai. A number of ladies were invited, and the chief of the Whakataneß guaranteed propriety on the occasiou, a promise which, we understand, was strictly observed. The dance was got up specially for the Count de Zaba, who was present, together with a large number of other spectators. The afternoon was remarkably fine and favourable, and the natives, consequently, had no excuse for further postponing a display which they had twice previously announced, and as often disappointed the audience assembled, in consecpience of a few slight showers of rain. Tho display was a very tame affair, and the audience seemed disappointed with the long-talked-of haka, when it was all oyer.— Thames Advertiser. The proud and happy father of a two-weeks'-old baby calls it "Mar's newly-dis-covered satellite."
