TESTIMONIAL TO COLONEL MOULD.

To the Editor of the New Zealand HeraliU. Sir, —1 should feel obliged "by your inserting the following correspondence relative to the testimonial forwarded to Colonel Mould, C.8., Royal Engineers, on the occasion of hia leaving Now Zealand.—l . am, &o>, J. O. Hajiley.

Bir, —The of St. Paul's parish and others, being desirous of testifying to their respect and regard for yourself personally, and to their appreciation of the many and valuable services you have rendered to St. Paul's parish, and to the public generally, during your residence of ton years in Now Zealand beg to forward the sum of fifty psuads, and to request that you wilt purchase in England somo suitable testimonial, and cause tho following inscription to be engraved upon it: — " ' To Colonel Thomas Bawlings C.8., Royal Engineers, from tho parishioners of St. Paul's pariah, Auckland, and others, as a memorial of their reapect and esteem for himself personally, and of their appreciation of the many and valuable services rendered by him to St. Paul's parish, Auckland, and to the public generally, during the ten yeais of lii 3 residence in Now Zealand, whilo in command of the P.oyol Engineers.' " I have tho honor to be, Sip, " Moat faithfully youra, (Signed) " J. O. Hamlet, " On behalf of the subscribers." " Landport House, " Portsmouth, Ist February, 1867. " Sir, —I have the pleasure to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 10th October last, encloaing a bill for the sum of fifty pounds, which had been subscribed by the parishioners of St. Paul'sparisli, and others, who were desirous of testifying their respect and regard for myself personally, and to their appreciation of the services v/hich I had been able to render to the pariah, and the public generplly, during my residence in New Zealand; it did not re quire this additional testimonial to assure me of the good feeling towards me, of those with whom I had been so long and so happily still a tangible proof of that good feeling, which I shall be able to show with pride to mv relatives and filends, cannot bo otherwise than moat gratifying to my feelings.. " I beg you will assure my friends and the subscrivers generally, that I feel their kindness most deeply, and that my heart will ever be warm towards them, and the country in which I was so fortunate to meet them, and to be associated with them. I shall lay out the money to the best advantage on a piece of plate, upon which shall bo engraved the llattering words stated in your official letter.
