WAIMATE. August 20.
At the weekly Executire meeting of the New Zealand Workers' Union a resolution was passed regretting that the Goremment could not see its way clear to establish a State bank instead of bolstering up financial institutions whose existence is recognised by the toilers of this colony to be detrimental to their welfare. Messrs Tanner and Hall-Jones, M.H.R's, were congratulated for their adrocaoy of the workers' cause during the debate on the Financial Statement.
