MEETING OF CREDITORS.

A meeting of the creditors in the estate of Thomas Walker, wool-scourer, Maheno. was held in the Courthouse yesterday afternoon. There were present Messrs D. Hay (18s), Robert Emerson (L14), Thomas Jsckman (L28 2s. Mr Newton appeared on behalf of the debtor. The debtor's statement was to the effect that Ins wool-scouring establishment had baan let over his head, and he could not with the wool-scouring work that r^%»d secured for this season. BesideB, in view of that, he had not taken the classifying of the season's clip at a large station. Through the place having been let he had no alternative but to tile. He had had three bad seasons, and as the Meat Preserving Company had reduced the price of scouring to Jd per lb he had nlao to reduce, nnd the work did not pay. It nearly ruined him as well as the Company. The Deputy-Official Assignee said that he did not think the estate would realise more than L50 or L60, and the total liabilities amounted to over L400. The debtor thought the estate ought to realise L150. The principal creditors are : John Barraclough, L250 ; Colonial Bank of New Zetland,' L73 2s 5d (secured); Duncan Sutherland, L26 ; wages, L60 10s lOd ; John Newlands, L5 ; T. Jackman, L5 ; and three creditors of under L2 each. The debtor said he had sold the*live stock and plant to Mr Barraclough, and when Mr D. Booth came on the 7th October to take an inventory of the goods on the place he gave debtor notice to quit. After taking an inventory Mr Booth left, saying he would be coming back there to work. Debtor gave up the keys to the assignee's bailiff on the 13th, when he filed. Mr Booth did not take possession. There was no further information elicited. The debtor was recommended, on the motion of Mr Hay, seconded by Mr^Jacktnan, for hia immediate discharge. J ,^ tJ
