Received July 17, afc 6.30 p.m. Sydney, July 17. The Wharf Laborers' Union has carried a resolution to the effect that it is unlawful for any member of the union to work with persons contracting for the discharging and loading of intercolonial boats. Delegates from the union interviewed the steamship owners, who replied that contracts for stevedoring were made for economical reasons, as the old system was ruinous. A spocial meeting of owners and laborers is to bo held to-day. The barque Zodiac was 3G days ouh from Kaipara when the crew abandoned her. It is presumed that she became water-logged. Her hull is insured for LiOO, and tho South British Company has a line of L6OO on tho cargo of timber. * A measure is being introduced in tho House of Assembly limiting tho duration of future sessions to six months, and providing for resuming unfinished legislation at the same stago in the following session. Melbourne, July 17. Upon the declaration of the Government to a representative of tho Legislative Council that they did nob intend to start relief works for tho unemployed, councillors subscribed LiOO, which was handed to the Salvation Army unemployed fund. Adelaide, July 17. The Legislative Council has rejected a motion in favor of bonuses being paid for the growth, manufacture, and export of agricultural and dairy produce, and fruit, winos, and other products.
