TIMARU. February 25.
Mr EL Acton has been re-elected chairman of the Harbor Board. The annual report shows that the trade is increasing, but the receipt* fell L 2218 below the expenditure. A harbor rate is being collected to make this up. There is an unallocated balance of loan moneys of L 12.312. A special hirbor rate being found to be expensive and troublesome, the Board propose to obtain an act empowering them to levy on the local rating bodies. The Engineer's annual survey of shingle accumulation shows sn advance of 48 feet in 1889, or about 60,000 cubic yards. The chairman said they would have to set about removing or checking it soon.
