THE WELLINGTON BURGLARY.
(BY TBLEGRIPH.) Wellington, June 1. Win. Davis, a mulatto, who was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the jewellery robbery, was brought up this morning, charged with receiving a watch knowing the same to have been stolen. Tho case was remanded until the 4th.
Christchrch, June 1.
At the resident magistrate's court this morning, before Mr R. Beetham, R.M., Herbert Allerdale (or Appendale), alias John Williams, was charged with burglar* iously entering the shop of William Jenness, at Wellington, on the night of May 26th, and stealing therefor m watches and jewellery to the value of about LBOO. Inspector Ptnder said, with the permission of the bench, he would abstain from saying much about the case at present. Ho assured the bench that part of the stolen property had been traced to the possesion of the prisoner, and that tbe police were investigating the matter further. He applied for a remand till Thursday, when he would produce all tbe evidence that could be obtained, and then ask for the prisoner to be remanded to Wellington. His worship remanded the prisoner as re* quested.
