TIMARU. December 10.

The half-yearly criminal sittings of the Supremo Court opened to-day, before Judge Johnston. True bills vrero returned in the following cases : Thomas Griffin, stealing from the person ; Win, Charles Kidney, forging and uttering (two ohargoa) ; Patrick Finn, forging and uttering ; Edward Jeffery, maliciously placing an obstruction on the railway line; Edward James, forgery ; Harry Daniel Manning, aiding and abetting to commit forgery ; John Doyle, forgery and uttoring; William C. Graham, attempt to murder : Thomas Hunt, oattlo stealing ; Mary Hunt, wilful damage to property ; Frederick Noibor, obtaining money by false pretences (two charges). No bills were found in tho cases of Alfred Fisher, for libel, and W. B. Nightingale, for larceny. The following prisoners wore dealt with : Thomas Griffin, twelve months ; W. C. Kidney, one day ; Patrick Finn, twelve months ; Edward James, forgery, two years ; John Doyle, twelve months ; Mary Hunt, one day ; Frederick Neibor, one year on one charge, acquitted on tho other. Tho weather is now warm, but heavy floods are still coming down most of tho rivers. The annual regatta on Anniversary Day promises to provo a very great succoss.
