The velocity of the wind on Thursday during 24 hours was 533 miles, but at the height of the galo the speed was double this. A large willow, 15 years old, was snapped in two by the foroe of the gale, and the whole town wu strewn with boughs. To-day the gale continued, but lest , severely. Strangely enough, the weather was quite warm, and the sky free from clouds nearly the whole time, although a sou'-wester is almost invariably accompanied by heavy rain.
