TOTORA ANNUAL RACES.
The sixth annual races at Totora came off on Christmas Day, on the.racing ground in the thousand aero paddock, opposite the Fortifications. The easy distance from town induced the presence of a good sprinkling of our townspeople ; and a very large number of equestrians from the adjoining stations and country had likewise determined to witness the annual sports. The kindly forethought of the much respected Ladies of Totora, in providing refreshment! for all on the course who chose to partake thereof, deserves special notice. The only drawback to the whole was the absence of Mr Henry Campbell, who from the first has taken a very warm interest in the raceB. The stewards on this occasion were Messrs T. Allan, R. Huuter, James S. Holmes, W. Or. Hardy, and John H. M'Lean ; Judge, Mr B. Hunter ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr D. M'Fadyen ; Clerk of Course, Mr E. Lear j Starter, Mr Waddell.
