KOOKABURRAS The last time the Pioneers and the Kookaburras met, the latter team won, but Pioneers on last Saturday’s play were not to be denied, and they reversed the result by winning by an innings and 15 runs, j At the end of the third innings the score was even 8-8 but in the fourth innings Pioneers would not be cheeked and ran up the huge score of, 18 runs to Kookaburras’ 2. Hansen pitched well for Pioneers while the team as a whole played great baseball, their throwing to bases being well judged instead of wild as they were previously. Dean was outstanding as a catcher while Vazey held batting honours with three home runs and was also good in the field. Kookaburras played well but could not cope with the team work of their opponents. Vazey proved particularly devastating to them, accepting every < ch that came his way. Lisle was (he only man to hit a home run, while J. Wright tool; the position of pitcher and performed well.
