Mr. J. Drummond lef. for Auckland by car on Wednesday to attend the wedding of his son there on Saturday. He will be returning on Sunday. The N.Z. Film Unit recently shot a film of nurses ur.der-going training at the Wellington Training School for Dental Clinic Nurses. Miss Wendy King cf Kaitaia has a prominent speaking part in this film which should be seen in Kaitaia early next year. Mrs. M. Wild left on Friday on holiday in Auckland. Mr. J. Wilcox is at pesent on annual leave in Auckland and south. Mr. Fitall is relieving postmaster. Mrs. W. Clark and son Selwyn of Pamapuria left last Friday for a holiday to be spent in the South Island. Mrs. A. G. R. Wilkinson of Mission Bay arrived in Kaitaia on Wednesday night to be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. L. Morpeth. Miss Cis Wilkinson and Mrs. Ken Thompson and son of Auckland, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Archibald. Mr. J. Geange of Taihape is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Langley. Mrs. W. Geard left this morning to spend a holiday with her daughter, Mrs. W. Snell of Nunguru, Whangarei. Mr. Gordon MacKenzie of Franktqn, is spending sick leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. MacKenzie of Kaitaia. Miss C. Holder left for Auckland on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Williams have returned from their holiday. Preparations for Commencement of Air Service Mr. L. G. Thompson has been appointed agent in Kaitaia for National Airways, Inc., and to become fully conversant with the details relevant

to preparation of aircraft documents, Miss Ruby Timbers (who will be acting as booking clerk) leaves on Monday for Auckland. On Tuesday she will fly to Palmerston North for two days’ training in the National Airways office, returning by air to Auckland for a further two days in the Auckland office. DEATH AT 105 YEARS Former Oruru Resident The death has occuired in Cambridge of Mrs. Sybella Margaret Watts in her 106th year. . Mrs. Watts, nee Miss Hunt, was born in England, coming to New Zealand with her family on the ship “Cairngorm” nearly 84 years ago. The family settled at Oruru about 1874 or 1875 and the sons farmed there for 7 or 8 years on the properties later owned by the Wilkinsons and Cartons. Before moving to Hamilton the family lived for a period at Paranui. Her marriage to William Ross Watts, an officer in the armed constabulary in the sixties and seventies, took place at Hamilton. Mr. Watts died a few years after the marriage. Mrs. Watts later built a large house in Hamilton and started a girls’ boarding school. A keen traveller, Mrs. Watts toured most of New Zealand. For the last 20 years she has been a cripple, dying at a rest home in Cambridge last week. She is survived by a son, Mr. Ross Watts of Auckland. Another son, Cyril, was killed in the 1914-18 war, while Guy died some years ago. Mrs. Clem Matthews, Mrs. E. M. Hodgson, Mrs. S. Blyth of Paranui and Mrs. Merton were nieces, while Mr. Arnold Puckey and the late Mr. George Puc- - key were nephews. PLEASANT GARDEN PARTY i Favoured with fine weather, the annual garden party of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union ; was held at the Manse Dominion i road on Wednesday. Over 40 people i were present including visitors from Kaingaroa and Awanui. The afternoon was spent in games and competitions, the ladder croquet resulting in a win for Mrs. P. Alton. !_ In the potato race the A team j captained by Mrs. Bird was defeated by Mrs. Clark’s B team. Miss Steed the B’s representative just won from j Mrs. Sands of the A’s. Much amusement was caused by the wheelbarrow race, especially to the onlookers. Mr. A. Puckey proved the winner with Mr. P. Meenan j second. The passengers were Leona Young and Patricia Rive. (. Mrs. W. Parker managed the stall while afternoon tea arrangements y were in the hands of Mrs. D. Lewis s and helpers.
