Miss Roma Watson left Kaitaia. i this morning for New Plymouth after spending a fortnight’s holiday with her fiance’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. j Foley, Lake Road. It is believed that Mr. L. Turner is shortly joining the band. Mr. and Mrs. L. Ashworth of Napier, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. Maria of Worth St., Kaitaia. ! The marriage took place recently | in the Chapel at IZB of Miss Iris i Carmichael former hairdresser of Kaitaia. The bridegroom was Mr. Leslie Raymond Goodhue of Kaikohe. ! Mis. C. 11. G. Hedditch is at pres- ; ent in Palmerston North visiting her mother, Mrs. Bell, who is a patient | in the hospital. Mrs. Bentry Smith of Wellington arrives on Sunday to be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. Kerridge and Mr. C. H. G. Hedditch. Mr. W. Stringer left for Thames yesterday. Mrs. Stringer and family will 'oe remaining in Kaitaia until after Christmas. Coming of Age Party At the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Mclntosh on Saturday, close friends and relatives gathered to wish Bruce Mclntosh all the best, the occasion being to mark Bruce’s coming-of-age. Mrs. E. Rule rendered a vocal solo, and the evening was spent in a musical strain. Mr. J. Pearson proposed the toast to the guest of honour and his father, Mr. L. A. Mclntosh, presented him with the key. Bruce responded. The highlight of the evening was the beautiful cake decorated with its 21 candles. Summer Weather in Evidence Kaitaia on Wednesday experienced the hottest day so far this summer. For seven consecutive days rain has not fallen, the longest period during the last six months. The improvement in growth in the vegetable and flower gardens is now very noticeable, hoses having t 0 be used in many gardens. HOME - SERVICEMEN’S MEETING At Awanui on Friday evening- there were over 40 present at one of the most successful Far North Home Servicemen’s meeting- held th date. The guests included members of the Awanui R.S.A., while arrangements for the evening \ver- in the hands of the Awanui H.S 4. members under the leade ship of Mr. S. G. Shaw. A fine supper was turned on by the hosts after which Mr. H. M. Thompson, President of the County Home Servicemen’s Association, thanked the hosts of the evening for their hospitality.
