Pukepoto School Concert

An entertainment in the form of a combined concert and dance organized by the pupils of the Pukepoto School held in the Rarawa Hall, Pukepoto last. Friday night, was highly successful both from the financial social standard. The programme consisted of the following items : Welcome baka— John Cameron (leader) Ponaute Bushy, Alex Robson, Euru Te Ma'ru. Henry Robson, Paki Simeon; action and part songs by the combined primers and senior classes respectively 1 Maori war dance by senior boys ; Maori farewell love song acted by Moira Busby, Julia and Hereora Pita, Sarah Te Maru Moana Robson and Kerewai Cameron. A two-act play, “Belling the Cat” was then performed by the following pupils— Isabel Morrison, John Cameron, Audrey Masters, Rose Kauwhata, RuruTe Maru, Rex Masters, Walter Courteney, Alex Archie Oracie, John and Nancy Morrison and John Courteney. Selected poi dances by the older girls, and two much appreciated songs by Miss Ururaupo Cameron (by special request), completed the concert programme. Mr. Gracie thanked those present including the chairman and members of the School Committee for their able assistance in every way and the ladies for contributing baskets which were auctioned the funds going towards the heap, and the buyers who were true sports to share the contents afterwards when supper was being served. The rest of the evening was spent happily in dancing intermingled with a few vocal items rendered by the visitors and local talent.
