Kohukohu

Personal Mr. D. B. Wallace and Miss Wallace paid a flying visit to Kohukohu last week. They stayed with Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Wallace. Mr. A. Dodd, Rangiora Timber Co., motored through from the Thames during the past week. He stayed for the sale of timber lots at the old mill yards and returned home on Saturday. Kohukohu Tennis Club A special general meeting of the Kohukohu Tennis Club was held in Mrs. Hansen’s Tea Rooms on the 21st inst. There was a good attendance of members. With regard to junior players it was decided that the age limit be 15 years and that the subscription be 10/ for boys and 5/ for girls. The ordinary subscription fee was reduced from £1 1/ to 15/ for ladies, and from £2 2/ to £1 5/ for men. It was decided that the old net be presented to the school, and also that new balls be purchased for the opening tournament on Labour Day. Wesleyan Church Picnic The members of the local Wesleyan church held their annual picnic at Victoria Valley on Labour Day. Notwithstanding the very unpromising look of the weather in the morning quite a large number set out in Mr. T. Baker’s lorry. Showers during the day rather marred the pleasure of the outing, but the best was made of it and all were pleased that they had braved the elements. Opening Tennis Season The opening of the tennis season, set down for Labour Day had to be postponed until the following Wednesday on account of the rain. Working bees have put the courts and the pavilion in good shape. Cricket The opening of the cricket season, a game married v. single of the Ko-

hukohu Club, had to be postponed on account of the raip. Tennis Club Dance The Tennis Club held a dance on Labour Day night. The wet did not damp the ardour of the dancers, and the floor was well filled. The function was both a social and financial success.
