Farming Prospects Spring growth has been somewhat backward, but the warm days now prevailing should soon give us a plentiful supply of grass. A considerable amount of cream has been going to the factories during September, and if the season is a favourable one a larger output may be expected. Notwithstanding the depression, farmers are increasing production by new grass, fertilisers and improved stock. Messrs. R. Switzer and Mr. H. E. Champion recently bought two fine Jersey bulls at the National Dairy Sale, Hamilton. School Matters and Tennis The School Committee, Messrs. Metcalf, chairman, W. Dawson, and M. Atkinson, met on Saturday and decided to hold a working bee next week to clean up the school grounds. The Committee decided not to let the school tennis courts this season, but instead to have them open to all players on payment of a small fee by each player for the season. The Committee will meet again next week to settle the details and draw up rules. It will be remembered last season the members of the Kaiaka Club only were allowed to play. This season the local Bible Class put in an application for the lease of the courts, as they have none. The Kaiaka Club also applied for them, and it was suggested the Bible Class club could become members of Kaiaka Club and so get the use of the school courts. Under last season’s arrangement the Bible Class Club members were excluded from use of the courts. The present arrangement should give satisfaction all round, and the school committee will keep the courts in repair out of the funds collected from players. Personal Mr. Williams, Rangitiki, conducted the Methodist service here on Sunday morning. Mr. T. J. Coulter left last week for Auckland and Wellington. Mr. Coulter has been ordered a complete change and rest for a time. Mr. Chapman, who recently arrived from Ashburton, has taken over the farm on Mangatoitoi road sold by Mrs. Prossers some time ago.
