Mrs. A. Logan, who has been spending a holiday in Auckland, has returned to Kaitaia. Miss V. M. Matthews, who has been in Palmerston North for two months, returned to Kaitaia on Tuesday. Miss Zita Berghan left Kaitaia this week for a month’s holiday in Auckland. Miss A. Wagener, of Pukenui, is relieving the assistant teacher at Te Hapua. Mr. J. Rae of Papakura is visiting his daughter, Mrs. Rickard, of Kaitaia. Mr. N. (“Snowy”) Baker, of the Kaitaia postoffice staff, is on his annual leave. Mr. G. Millar, late editor-manager of “The Guardian” is enjoying a with Mr. R. D. Lupton, of Rangitiki. Mr. A. G. Frankham, of A. G. Frankham, Ltd., Auckland, is visiting Kaitaia, and is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Puckey. Mrs. J. Subritzky, an old resident of Waihopo, is, we are sorry to learn, in the Mangonui hospital seriously ill. Mrs. Subritzky’s husband, a seafaringman, died two months ago. Miss E. de Montalk, of the Kaitaia school staff, who has been on sick leave for the past six weeks, returned last Saturday. Miss Hayes, who was relieving Miss de Montalk, has returned to Kaeo. Mr. G. Wright, town clerk of Kohukohu, paid Kaitaia a visit this week, and as his last visit was paid some 39 years ago, he was naturally much struck with the progress made by the district in the interval. Mr. D. S. White, manager of the Kaitaia branch of the Bank of New Zealand, is retiring at the end of the year. He has been stationed at Kaitaia for the past fifteen years and has been thirty-nine years in the service of the Bank.
