A POPULAR DANCE

A dance in connection with the Women’s Division of the N.Z.F.U. was held on Friday evening the 22nd ult. at the A. and P. Hall, Kaitaia. There was an attendance of over ninety couples, the management being carried out by the entertainment committee under the able direction of Mrs. Geard. The hall was tastefully decorated with streamers and excellent music was supplied by the Feeney Orchestra who occupied the stage which was effectively decorated with arum lilies and nikau palms. The Chaperons’ corner was provided with easy chairs, card tables, and radiators, ensuring every comtort and entertainment for all.

The duties of M.C. was performed most efficiently by Mr. D Jameson. Keen interest was taken in the cake made by Mrs. S. Masters and iced by Mrs. W. Geard, it realising the sum of £5, Mr. M. P. Atkin drawing the lucky number, Mr. A. W. Masters, on behalf of the Women’s Division thanked, the people for their loyal support to a good cause. An outstanding feature of the evening’s entertainment was the many visitors from the outside districts. A dainty supper was provided by the members of the union and dancing was continued well into the early hours of the morning.
