The Kaitaia Hospital
Question of Accomodation Director General’s View The question of the need for ’ adequate staffing accommodation at Ihe Kaitaia Hospital was raised at the Hospital Board meeting on Wednesday, when a " letter from Dr Valentine stated that he was concerned to hear that there was so much stress on the accommodation at the Kaitaia Hospital. It naturally occurred to him as to whether the hospital was being used principally for the accommodation of maternity cases j. he Director-General agreed that it was necessary that he should visit Kaitaia as soon as possible and have an opportunity of interviewing the Board. Mr Cosson considered that it was apparent from the correspondence from Director-General eral that he was endeavouring to show that the Kaitaiaa Hospital was not functioning as it should. It behoved the Board to be in a position to meet the veiw advanced by the Director-General. Dr Valentine had already said that he wants the staff reduced according to his previous correspondence. He was going to try to prove to the Board that tho present staff at Kaitaia, and consequently the building, was not necessary. Mr Michie said it was evident that the Director-General was not favouring the Kaitaia Hospital. . It would seem that he was not doing anything to help it along. The Board should make its posit- - ion clear when the Director-Gen-eral arrived here The Chairman said that it was ‘ an unsatisfactory position. Thera was no question that the staffing accomodation was inadequate. The Secretary : Ar angementt have been made for t ie staff to share rooms in the meantime. The matter dropped but will be revived when the DirectorGeneral visits Kaitaia,
