Donation By Mrs T H Kenny
It is a time honoured custom to make a silver donation such as a cup or a spoon for the first baby born in a maternity hospital, or the maternity wing of a hospital. The custom has been followed ia connection with the Kaitaia Memorial Hospital. The Board members were considering the advisability of subscribing to some such trophy on Thursday when Mr Atkins reported that Mrs T H Kenny had given a silver cup for presentation to the first baby born in the Hospital. Mr, Atkins reported that the lucky baby was one of a family of ten from Broadwood, Mrs McCarthy the mother of the infant born during the week, together with her husband and family are temporary residents in the Countv and hers was the first maternity case admitted to the Hospital. The Chairman, (Mr T S HuUston) moved that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded Mrs Kenny for her gift. This was seconded by several members and carried unanimously by acclamation.
