Raising Funds

For Kaitaia Hospital Mr C B Michie’s Offer

To Give Lectures

At the Hospital Board meeting on Wednesday, Mr C B Michie offered to give a series of lectures on astronomical subjects in aid of the Hospital funds. While claiming no distinctions as an astronomer Mr. Michie said he had just received a number of lantern slides from America and these were better than any previously shown in the North, and they were the best procurable any when., it is worthy of note that Mr Michie was the only student of astronomy to secure a photograph of the last eclipse. This is now in the hands of the New Zealand Government and will be circulated among members of the Royal Astronomical Society. Mr Michie has received a letter of 'hanks and appreciation for his work in the interest of Astronomical Science. The Board accepted his offer with thanks and it was decided that the members in the various districts co-operate in making the lectures a success financially.
