KAITAIA TOWN BOARD.
The above Board met on Tuesday night. Present:—J. It. Reynolds, (chairman) G. Rickard, J. tl. Bedggood and J. T. Taaffe. It was decided that applications be called for the position of poundkeeper. In response to an application by ratepayes it was decided to supply £5 worth of facines for holes in Empire St. A similar quantity is (0 be supplied for Mona Street. The clerks salary for the curreht year was increased to £lO4, and he is to receive a bonus for extra work entailed in the severance from the country. The culvert in Lake Read is to be repaired and £lO worth of metal placed on the road where required. Cr. Bedgood was aulhorised to have urgent work done on Church Rd. Crs. Reynolds and Rickard are to consult with the engineer and contractors with a view to arranging for the continuation ef the kerbmg and channelling in Commerce St. Crs. Reynolds, Matthews, and Taaffe were appointed to represent the Board on the Commission to sit to-morrow to adjust matters between the townand county. The Government subsidy on rates collected for the ending March 31st last amounted to £96-7-3—about three times the amount of subsidy on the previous year.
