[To the Editor] Sir, —I observe the local body’s advertising a loan for £2OOO. What is the money wanted for, or where is it to be spent? One looks in vain through the advertisement announcing the Loan proposal for any light on the matter. Does this omission merely show lack of intelligence on the part of the local body ? Or is it cunningly intended to keep Ratepayers in the dark in the hope they will be more likely to “take the bait”? After the shocking example of the £SOOO loan with its scandalously wasteful expenditure of the money, one would not be surprised if the ratepayers show at the poll they want no more loans till we get the war over with its shortage of good abour and have a new Council, lock, stock and barrel, that has some consideration for the ratepayers.—l am, etc., A STUPID RATEPAYER.
