PARAPARA.

(From a Correspondent.) Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Hariison celebrated their golden wedding at Parapara en the Ist February. Those present included the Rev. C. J. Merton, Mrs. H. Rayner and family, Mrs, S. Farndon and family, Mrs. W. Fox, Mrs. A. Wells, and Mr. Rnd Mrs. C. J. Harrison. The table was laid under the shade of the old willow tree and all those present seemed to quite enjoy it. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison are very old identities. Mr. Harrisen landed in New Zealand on Ist April, 1841, by a boat called the William Bryant, whioh landed the first immigrants in New Plymouth. Mr. Harrison was then about 4 years old. He has only been out of New Zealand about two ytars. He served iii the Maori war in Hawke’s Bay and was at the Poverty Bay massacre, and the taking of Oinaranui pah ; also the Mohoka massacre, for which he now holds the New Zealand war medal for servioe. Mrs. Harrison landed in New Zealand at port Lyttleten on October Ist, 1861, from the ship Canterbury whioh sailed from St. Katherine’s Dooks, London, on June 21st, Captain Edwards oommandei.
