HIGH PRICES PAID
GERMAN EMBASSY FURNITURE L°ndon, Nov. 29. At the resumed sale of furniture from the German Embassy to-day, £14,500 was taken, says the “Daily Mail.” Two haulage contractors refused to remove the scwt bust of Hitler, which was bought by Gordon Canning, so the bust on marble pedestal— it is insured for £750 —had to remain for the night in the saleroom. Some light relief has been given by those who paid fantastically high prices for the contents of the German Embassy, says the Press Association’s special representative. The buyers had fat wallets and paid such absurd prices that dealers gave up tidding, with the comment “raving mad.” The sale also revealed the presence in England of the League of Christian Reformers, who apparently take a good view of Hitler. The view taken of the league is ndt so good.
