METROPOLITAN MILK BOARD

SUGGESTED FORMATION IN NELSON The Nelson City Council yesterday afternoon decided to advise the Milk Marketing Clvision that the council was now prepared to act as a Central Milk Authority but was of the opinion that a Metropolitan Milk Board should be formed. The Mayer (Mr E. R Neale) said that a meeting of representatives of the Waimea County (Stoke Riding), Richmond Borough Council. Tahunanui Town Board and the City Council had been held and it was at first thought that a Central Milk Authority could control the milk supply in the districts represented. However, after hearing a Government official who was on loan from the Auckland Milk Board, the delegates were unanimous that a Metropolitan Milk Board should be established. If the City Council became the authority, it could not cope with the work in its office and another inspector would have to be employed. Margins on the prices would cover the cost of the proposed board’s administration.
