“GOOD-BYE AND GOOD LUCK”

FRIENDSHIP AND CO-OPERATION APPRECIATED (To the Editor) Sir. —In reply to the leading article which appeared in your paper dated 28th August. 1945. under the heading “Goodbye and Good Luck,” I would like to take the opportunity, on behalf of the personnel of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station, Nelson. both past and present, to thank the people of Nelson and district for the outstanding hospitality and kindness shown to us at all times. Only those boys who passed through a term of rigid technical training, necessary to equip them with the required skill and know-ledge to enable them to maintain aircraft for w-ar service conditions, can appreciate to the full the welcome break from service routine w-hich the residents of the Nelson district so readily offered them in every direction. It was particularly gratifying to notice the W.A.A.F.’s being mentioned in your columns. These girls have done a splendid job of woik, suffering inconveniences with a smile and are now slipping quietly back into civilian life without receiving the praise and appreciation w-hich is due to them. Your good wishes and the Nelson friendly and co-operative spirit, will long be remembered by the boys and girls who have passed through this unit.—l am, etc., A. T. GILES. ■ >■•*-''' ’ Wing Commander, Commanding, R.N.Z.A.F. Station. Nelson, 29th August.
