FIRE AT RICHMOND

Last evenmg at about 9.30 o’clock the Richmond Volunteer Fire Brigade received a call to "Dorset House.” a large two-storied wooden building in Dorset street. Sparks from a chimney fire had set fire to the large board on a high gable and the woodwork was starting to burn when the brigade arrived. Prompt action by the firemen soon had the outbreak under control before anything more than minor damage was caused. There was a strong south-wes-terly wind blowing at the time and only the early notification of the fire and the prompt arrival of the brigade saved the building from destruction. ’
