LORD DUFFERIN’S DEATH IN BURMA
Bombay, April 5. Lord Dufferin was killed in Burma while attempting to broadcast a psychological warfare message to the Japanese from a front-line position in the Letse area, 32 miles south-west of Pakokku on March 25, says the Australian Associated Press special correspondent. Lord Dufferin left a forward position and advanced with his psychological warfare section towards the Japanese dug-in on a feature 500 yards from our line. They had advanced half-way' when a party of Japanese, whose presence wss unsuspected, opened fire at almost point-blank range, fatally wounding Lord Dufferin.
