FOOTBALL FIXTURES
[To the Editor] Sir, —In the report of the Rugbv Union meeting a programme was outlined for a full-day gala on King’s Birthday—seven-a-side tournament in morning and representative match versus Buller in afternoon. I take it all our best players would be chosen for the various seven-a-side teams and the leaders would have to play two or three strenuous games. What then of the representative game on top of this? T'» take on Buller we would need a very fresh and fit team to make any show whatever —a half tired lot would simply make a farce of the game. The only alternative would be to keep th® representative players out of the morning games. If this is done what a poor exhibition the seven-a-sides will be! Think it over. —I am. etc., OLD TIMER. Nelson, sth April.
