TO-DAY’S WEATHER FORECAST
SOUTH-EASTERLY WINDS Wellington, This Day. The indications are for south-east-erly winds, strong at first in exposed positions, a few isolated showers r.t first in the eastern hills, otherwise fair, temperatures cool. The further outlook is for fair and mild conditions. The highest temperatures recorded in Nelson so far this summer were experienced yesterday when the maximum reading in the shade was 81 degrees. The unbroken spell of hot dry weather continued during the weekend when there was a total of 20 hours 48 minutes’ bright sunshine, 8 hours 54 minutes on Saturday and 11 hours 54 minutes on Sunday. Yesterday a strong southwesterly wind made conditions hot and trying, except for a period during the afternoon when a breeze blew off the sea. Although cloudy, the weather this morning was line and warm with a light south-westerly breeze which switched round to the south-east.
