DUKE OF WELLINGTON KILLED
GREAT GREAT GRANDSON OF FAMOUS “IRON DUKE” London, Oct. 1. The Duke of Wellington, great great grandson of the famous “Iron Duke,” has been killed in action in Sicily. He was an officer in a commando which landed in the north-east corner a month ago. He also saw service in Abyssinia, Tenry Valerian George Wellesley, sixth Duke of Wellington, was born on 14th July, 1912. Entering the army, he served in the Ist Battalion of the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment from 1935-39. From then till 1942 he was in Africa with the King’.; African Rifles. His heir is Major Lord Wellesley, who is 58.
