TO START WORK ‘BY THE SUN’
MINERS OBJECT TO DAYLIGHT SAVING MR CURTIN’S WARNING (Rec. 1.40 p.m.). Sydney, This Day. Claiming that daylight saving prevents them from getting proper sleep in the hot weather members of four lodges on the northern coalfields of New South Wales, have decided to start work “by the sun” and not “by the clock.” The Prime Minister, Mr •Curtin, warned miners that daylight saving, which starts at 2 a.m. tomorrow. is law and must not be defied. Complete disorganisation will result unless the miners attend for work under daylight saving time.
