TRIALS OF WAR
The next decade covered the period of the first world war and the dark years that followed it. The College girls were busy knitting and sewing and making bandages while the old girls of the College played their part in the outside world. Several of them went overseas with the forces as nursing sisters. One old girl has recorded her memories of the joyously uproarious journey home in the train the day of the Armistice, with the engine whistling loudly in imitation of cheering. In 1918 a new sanatorium was built and another wing added to the College building
