BRITISH AND SOVIET MEETING AT MOSCOW OBJECTIVES SET OUT (Rec. 12.20 p.m.) Rugby, Oct. 26. The first meeting of the Anglo-Soviet tiade union committee, representing the All Union Central Council of the Trade Union of the U.S.S.R. and the British Trades Union Congress, was held at Moscow on 13th to 15th October. Among those present was Sir Walter Citrine. The Anglo-Soviet trade union committee considered vital problems which millions in Russia and Britain are faced with in the unsettled \ international situation. Delegations of British and Soviet j trade.unions unanimously came to an agreement defining the main objectives ot the committee: (1) The joining together of the trade unions of Britain and the Soviet Union for organisation ot mutual assistance in war against Hitlerite Germany. (2) Every possible support to the Governments ot the Soviet and Britain in the common war for the defeat of Hitlerite Germany. (3) Strengthening the industrial efforts of both countries with a maximum increase in the production of tanks, planes, gun, ammunition and other arms. (4) Assistance in rendering the utmost help in arms to the Soviet by Britain. (5) To make use of all the means of agitation and propaganda, the Press, broadcast, the cinema and workers’ meetings in the fight against Hitlerism. <6) All possible support to the people of the countries under the occupation of Hitlerite Germany Which are fighting for deliverance from Hitler's oppression for the independence and restoration of their democratic liberties. (7) Organisation of mutual assistance of British and Soviet trade unions and mutual information. (8) Strengthening the contact between representatives of the trtide unions of the Soviet and Britain through all the

unions of the central council of trade unions of the Soviet and British Trade Union Congress. At a meeting of the committee the Soviet delegation accepted the invitation of the British Trade Unions Congress to send representatives of the Soviet trade unions to visit Britain. This delegation will acquaint them of the fight which the peoples of the Soviet Union are carrying on against Nazi Germany. The question of the composition of this delegation will be considered within the next few days by the All Union Central Council.—B.O W
