WHAKAREWA
CINEMA LECTURE At the recent monthly cinema lecture at the Whakarewa Home the following films were presented by the vicar of Motueka (Rev. W. A. Bc-aumont). The travel section included a trip io Japan with many interesting scenes of Japanese temples and the worshippers, and a visit to Greenland showing the customs and habits of the people there; also the work of the women, who are expert needlewomen. Switzerland was then visited and a ride taken on the steepest railway in the world. Then the scene changed to the United States of America, where the fastest train in the States was inspected. River craft of the Thames, London, was shown, also the grand Niagara falls. Various types of aircraft were depicted in Sir Alan Cobham’s “Air Circus.” Engineering interest was catered for in the working of a diesel engine and the programme closed with Mickey Mouse and Horace the Horse in “Jolly Farmers.”
