FORESTRY LEAGUE

COMPETITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED AWARDS TO NELSONIANS Winners of the Phillips Turner essay competition and of the children’s forestry competition for 1941 were announced at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Forestry League in Wellington last night. There were 88 entries for the essay competition, which was judged by Dr j If. H. Allan, director of the Plant Research Station. He commented that the I general standard of the essays was very good, and he congratulated the league on the great educational work it was doing among primary school children. J There were 93 entries for the forest tree foliage competition, which has J been conducted for the past 11 years, jlt was judged by Dr Oliver, of the [Dominion Musuem, with his assistants, land the senior division was won by the entrant who was first in the junior [division last year.
