PLUNDERED BY THE HUNS
SLENDER RESOURCES OF NORWAY ESCAPED SURGEON’S STORY |(Rec. 1.10 p.m.) London, July 28. A distinguished Norwegian surgeon who escaped to Britain estimates that Norway will reach the starvation stage in the spring of 1942. He told the "Daily Telegraph” that the slender resources are plundered to feed the army of occupation and to replenish the larders of Germany with many goods unobtainable, including meat, bacon and eggs. Farmers have been ordered to cut down semi-ripe harvests to feed the German army horses. The Germans demand forfeiture of 60 per cent, of fish m return for the petrol ration for fishing boats. It is reported from Gothenburg that a large party of young Norwegians succeeded in reaching England last week in several fishing boats. Fifty who failed to escape were thrown into a concentration camp.
