HIWIPANGO BRANCH’S ANNUAL REPORT At the seventh annual meeting of the Hiwipango branch of the W.D.F.U. there was a fair attendance. The meeting opened with the National Anthem, ! followed by the Creed. Then the min- : utes were read and confirmed. The president, Mrs Allan Wells, gave her report as follows: “In spite of many setbacks eight meetings have been held, and I consider our fiancial position to be most satisfactory, a credit to the few members who have worked so loyally during the past year. The members contributed I Is each and 10s were taken from tr.e , I funds towards the Aeroplane Fund. “In February a garden party was held at ‘Fairbank,’ when we combined ] with the Women’s National Reserve. ! and quite a satisfactory sum was rais- ‘ ed. Our grateful thanks go to Mr and Mrs A. J. Baker for their kindness in preparing their home and garden for this successful effort. We also thank Mr and Mrs Mead for their donation of peas which were sold for the benefit of the branch, and to those members who gave their time to pick them. “The library continues to function in j small way, and Miss N. Wells has undertaken to continue as librarian, although no longer a member of the W.D. organisation. “I am sorry that owing to health reasons neither the secretary nor my sen i has been able to attend the executive- , meetings regularly, but we hope to be able to send a representative to sent o' ! them this year. Thanks are due to Miss ; N. Wells who acted as secretary for three months, to Mr Thomas for auditj ing the books, the ‘Evening Mail’ for publishing reports, and our capable j secretary for her help during the year." A letter from Miss N. Wells, resigning from the branch, was received. The president and secretary were reelected with Mrs M. Robinson as viceI president. It was unanimously decided to 1 carry on the meetings independently lvom the National Reserve, patriotic work to be done through the W.D.. and parcels of refugee clothing to be sent I »n direct to the Lady Galway Guild. With regard to the annual birthday usually held in May. it was decided to I-old a social afternoon late in June, and i tc omit the usual birthday cake.
