FOR SERVICE IN FORCES
MEN IN COAL INDUSTRY AGE RESERVATION RAISED [British Official Wireless] ' (Received 7th December, 2 p.m.) RUGBY, 6th December. The raising of the age reservation from war service to 30 in more than 150 occupations in the coalmining industry* whereby underground workers ! are mainly effected, was announced by the Ministry of Labour and National Service and it is estimated to release between 250,000 and 300,000 men for service in the armed forces. Tribunals are being set up in various coal mining districts to report on the number of men under 30 who will be released and each tribunal will consist of an independent chairman and two representatives of each from the mine owners and workers.
