TRIBUTE TO AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATIONS
i VALUABLE WORK IN NELSON AND MARLBOROUGH The valuable work of the Automobile Associations in Nelson and MarlIbe rough was referred to by Mr T. A. Johnston, chairman of the No. 11 District Highways Council at the annual meeting to-day. Mr Johnston said the signposting work helped considerably with the direction of the travelling public and in matters concerning the safety of motorists. The associations were always adjvocating improvements on the highways system and valuable work' had I been achieved as the result of their re- ! presentations. ! Mr R. W. Sparrow (Takaka) endorsed the remarks of the chairman. On the last occasion a request was made to the Nelson Association it was only a matter of hours before a signpost was elected. He mentioned the services of the Patrol Officer, Mr N. M. McLaren, whose work was greatly appreciated. The chairman agreed that the patrol c./beers both in Nelson and Marlborough were doing excellent work.
