BOYCOTT OF NEW ZEALAND
FRENCH WOOLBUYERS ADVERSE COMMERCIAL BALANCE UP A—Bv Electric Telegraph-Coovnuhtl (Received 14th April, 1.35 p.m.) ROUBAIX. 13th April. M. Segard, president of the Wooldealers’ Association of Roubaix and Tourcoing districts, issued a statement that the French woolbuyers’ threat to boycott New Zealand was due to the decision to prohibit the import of luxury goods from France in order to protect the exchange value of the currency. "Our commercial balance with New Zealand was not been the brightest,” said M. Segard. “It became extremely adverse when New Zealand ceased purchases of scents, silks, cognacs, etc., as a result of which the New Zealand Government asked the importers to buy from other sources.”
