PLANNED IMMIGRATION
LABOUR RECOMMENDATION DEFINITE POLICY ADVOCATED (United Press Association! WELLINGTON, 13th April. The initiation by the Government of a definite policy of planned immigration, with a view to ensuring the economic safety and orderly development of the Dominion, was recommended to the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party to-day by the defence and immigration committee and was endorsed.
Other approved remits associated with immigration were that the Government arrange, through the High Commissioner’s office, for the encouragement of immigrants with suitable farming experience; and that the Goverrnment be requested to formulate a plan for the admission of European refugees who could suitably be absorbed into industries.
