SECURITY MEASURES
SECRECY IN FRANCE SPECIAL ATTENTION TO MEDITERRANEAN (Received 14th April, 9.0 a.m.) LONDON, 13th April. The Paris correspondent of "The Times” says that great secrecy is being maintained regarding the security measures being taken by France, but it is known that the Western Mediterranean is receiving special attention. British Consular officers in France have begun to take a census of British residents in France with a view to their evacuation in the event of war. The correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” in Bayonne (near the Spanish frontier) says that precautionary measures are being taken on the Spanish lrontier. Mountain batteries near Hendaye commanding the approaches from Spain are manned by reservists.
