DRIFT OF £4,543,000
AUSTRALIAN FINANCES FACTORS RESPONSIBLE SYDNEY, 26th January. The finances of the Commonwealth and State Governments for the first six months of the current financial year show a drift of £4,543,000. This is due to lower export prices, heavier expenditure on defence, increases in wages, the coal strike and loss of revenue arising from the prolonged drought.
